More about the artist:
Marcelo Monreal was born in São Paulo in 1978. At the age of 17 he was studding to be a computer programmer. Life was easy back then. He would go to school and spend all day long doing nothing. Then, one day, he told to his father: I want to work. His father, who was a fashion design in Brás, a region in São Paulo where many clothes stores and little textile fabrics operate, arranged for him his first job: Develop embroidery for a label factory. There, he would learn to use CorelDraw. After finishing school, he goes to the only design university in São Paulo, where a professor said to him: You´re no good for this. Besides this demotivation, his mother encouraged him to study on his own. After some time doing clothe´s tags and labels for Hudtelfa in Brás, Marcelo starts his own freelancers projects and a part time job at Carmim, where he makes his first contact with printmaking. At that time he dominates Corel and Photoshop. Four years later, he quit projects in printmaking and establishes himself making “flyers” for night clubs. Lot´s of prestigious clubs such as Lov.e Club, Kraft, Rosebombom, became clients of the Flyerlab, a design office he created in a partnership in 2006. Nowadays, Marcelo develops graphic material for Club 88, especially for the party “Wolf”. Actually, this project helped him to create a visual identity which accompanies his work until the present day. /// instagram.com/marcelomonreal
