Last night’s Grammy Awards confirmed Daft Punk‘s reign over the music world with the French electronic duo winning five awards, including top honors with Album of the Year. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis followed closely with four Grammys including Best Rap Song and Album, and Best New Artist, controversially beating out rap’s golden boy Kendrick Lamar who walked away with zero wins.
Aside from the awards, the performances at this year’s Grammys stole the show. Beyonce and Jay Z kicked things off with a rendition of “Drunk in Love” while other collaborations included Daft Punk with Pharrell and Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar and rock band Imagine Dragons, ex-Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age. But perhaps the biggest stunt at the awards ceremony was when 33 couples, both gay and straight, were married to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love,” with Madonna opening the performance with her song “Open Your Heart.” For a full list of the winners, head to the Grammy’s website.
