”This land is your land. This land is my land. We’re gonna live as brothers. And this can be our homeland” King Charles – Mr. Flick
Every man has the right to be who he wants to be and to be king of his own kingdom. Amsterdam men’s fashion label Cold Method wholeheartedly encourages individuality in style. For the Fall/Winter collection, head designer Dieter de Cock drew his inspiration from the music and looks of singer-songwriter King Charles, a flamboyant personality in the British music scene. Charles´ eclectic taste forms the point of departure for a modern men’s wardrobe, a playful variation on the classic dandy. Rugged yet sophisticated: Cold Method has created laidback fashion statements for any time of day.
With his modern hippie look and brilliant indie pop, King Charles (b. 1985) successfully pulls off a rock ´n´ roll attitude while still looking dapper. His rugged romantic style is the predominant theme of the Cold Method Fall/Winter collection. The basis of the collection is typical English tailoring and luxurious, soft knits. This is
contrasted with washed jerseys and repainted floral prints, as well as technical materials and fluorescent colour accents. These seemingly conflicting style elements together create a contemporary and distinctive look. Tough romance at its best.
Contrast is the keyword of the Cold Method collections. Head designer Dieter de Cock pursues the tension between dressy and casual, resulting in an uncomplicated men’s wardrobe for any time of day, a genuine 24/7 collection. The slender cut suits (in slim or skinny fit) personify British coolness and are rich in details, such as contrasting stitching on the inside and a lion’s head print on the lining.
The attention-grabber in the collection is the checked suit in burgundy and ruby red – designed for real daredevils. In addition to subtle checks and polka dots, the shirts also feature colourful paisley prints, a number of which are repainted. Hidden details like red/white/blue piping or a decorative button at the sleeve split underscore the rich character of the shirts.
The jumpers and cardigans are made of winter-warm and deliciously soft materials like cashmere, alpaca and lamb’s wool and have either smooth textures or are coarse-knit. Alongside dégradé and Fair Isle prints, there are also a number of tops in fluorescent yellow, for a powerful fashion statement.
It goes without saying that the collection also includes a number of good denims: washed, bleached and with lowered crotch. For stylish protection from the elements, Cold Method also has an extensive series of jackets with a technical look & feel, from lined bomber and motorcycle jackets to midlength jackets with integrated body warmer and oversized parkas perfect for cosy comfort.
The Cold Method 2013-2014 Fall/Winter collection will be presented to buyers, the press and stylists during a show held on the evening of Friday, 25 January 2013 during Amsterdam Fashion Week.
