Hyper-Matrix is a moving wall that consists of 3500 individual boxes, and each box is able to move up to 32cm forwards and backwards. The linear actuator, which controls the movement of the boxes, is a mechanism manufactured specifically for the exhibition that converts circular motion into linear motion using pulleys, idlers, belts and motors. The sensors in the joints of the aluminium frame, which holds the linear actuator, are able to calibrate the movement of the boxes. In addition, as the boxes are arranged at 5mm intervals, the wall achieves natual balance with the images projected onto it.
