SNAPS Fanzine – Created by Peruvian photographer living in Brazil, Gianfranco Briceño, SNAPS is a photo zine of male nudes, printed in black and white (PB).
The Fanzines are small compilations of texts or images, commonly associated with young, independent, and of counterculture publications. Its freshness and its most anarchic nature, allows for the exploration of unofficial materials and, at times, being bolder than other traditional publications. With years of expertise photographing models and artists to various media, the photographer Gianfranco Briceño assembled a team of eight ‘Gods’ among friends, models and artists from his personal life and / or work and decided to focus his gaze on male sexualization, intimate, poetic and above all sensual, very little explored by the currently brazilian photography.
The art in black and white in yellowish pollen paper, created by Fernando D’Araujo, refers to ancient homoerotic ‘librettos’, illustrating naked sailors and soldiers, that were subdued and forgotten over time. In 24 pages printed by risograph technique, in A5 format (20 cm x 14.5 cm), with a circulation of 300 copies and publicated every four months (3 times a year), the SNAPS Fanzine has 8 boys of distinct beauties. Captured in a series of snapshots (quick photos, intimate and unofficial), the images were yet curated by Eduardo Viveiros, fashion journalist with a refined vision of the male universe.
The initial print run will be limited to 300 copies, Invest in the project and receive, from alternative images that were left out of the final selection (three of them are below and you will have them printed and enlarged) to a unique photo session, in SNAPS Fanzine style, of you (or whoever you want) to Gianfranco Briceño lenses.
