We’ve noticed quite a few surrealist motifs in fashion lately–from Dior’s latest ad campaign (and fall collection), to Barneys’ recent “neo modern” campaign to Delfina Delettrez’s latest collection.
So, who better to capture fashion’s surrealist moment in W than Tilda Swinton, stylist Jacob K, and photographer Tim Walker, who also shot her other-wordly 2011 cover and accompanying 15-page spread? (Which we also kind of died over.)
In contrast to that one, which was shot in Iceland, this shoot took place at Las Pozas, the estate near the Mexican jungle town of Xilitla, where railroad heir Edward James spent 20 years designing and constructing the most insane concrete sculptures.
Walker’s photographs are never lacking in imagination or originality and Swinton seems his perfect subject. She just gets it.
Here, we see dramatic pieces by Armani, McQueen, Haider Ackermann, Louis Vuitton, and more, styled expertly by Jacob K like we’ve never seen them before
